Elevating a Legacy

The challenge with a brand like Singer is its own ubiquity. While synonymous with reliability, the brand needed to bridge the gap between "household staple" and "premium performance" to compete with the likes of Rowenta. We identified an opportunity to lean into Singer’s core DNA of sewing and craft to develop an iron that offers the surgical precision typically reserved for high-end tailoring.

The result is the SteamCraft, a modern design language defined by the patent-pending OnPoint Tip technology. This ultra-slim profile allows for effortless pressing around buttons, seams, and pleats, solving a primary frustration for sewists. We also addressed deep-seated UX pain points with a unique cam-out fill port for drip-free refills and an ergonomically accessible thumb wheel for steam selection. This focus on "maker-centric" utility, paired with a 30-minute vertical auto-off delay, earned the SteamCraft a 2021 Good Design Award and solidified its position as a high-performance tool for both the laundry room and the design studio.
